This is me, Sarah Broadley. Lover of chocolate and never ending cups of milky tea. I live in Scotland with my family and two cats who bring me dead things when I write in the wee small hours. The cats that is, not my family. I write picture books and novels for 8-12 year olds.

I am a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI) where I co-chaired their Scottish network from 2015-2017, the Society of Authors (SOA), its affiliated Children’s Writers & Illustrators Group (CWIG). and the Authors Licencing & Collecting Society (ALCS).

I also chair book launches and events at various literary festivals and review books for on-line reading resource My Book Corner. I was selected to read out one of my stories at the Edinburgh International Book Festival in 2016 and also at The Hook, a pitching event held at the SCBWI conference in 2018.

My story for younger readers, ‘Clovus’, was long-listed for the SCBWI Undiscovered Voices 2022 Award.

When I’m not writing, I co-ordinate a local book group for St Columba’s Hospice Volunteers and I interview authors and illustrators for the SCBWI on-line magazine Words & Pictures quarterly Writers’ Minds feature. I am also on the board of trustees for Cymera – the UKs only Sci-fi, Horror & Fantasy Writing Festival and I am a representative for the festival at the Scottish Book Festivals Network. I also volunteer at Open Book as a Lead Reader for their Speculative Fiction reading group.

After many years working in finance, I now write full-time.
