Readers and pen-users, I give you my Writer’s 12 Days of Christmas song –  just for you.

On the 1st day of writers Christmas my non-agent gave to me – a pen with my name engraved on it

On the 2nd day of writers Christmas my non-agent gave to me – two lindt chocolates and a pen with my name engraved on it.

On the 3rd day of writers Christmas my non-agent gave to me – three sticky notepads, two lindt chocolates and a pen with my name engraved on it.

On the 4th day of writers Christmas my non-agent gave to me – four ‘nice’ rejections, three sticky notepads, two lindt chocolates and a pen with my name engraved on it.

On the 5th day of writers Christmas my non-agent gave to me – five bounced back e-mails (repeated as the gold ring bit in the song – if you’re up for it, easy now), four nice rejections, three sticky notepads, two lindt chocolates and a pen with my name engraved on it.

On the 6th day of writers Christmas my non-agent gave to me – Six SAE’s, five bounced back e-mails, four nice rejections, three sticky notepads, two lindt chocolates and a pen with my name engraved on it.

On the 7th day of writers Christmas my non-agent gave to me – a ‘Seven’ score from Strictly, Six SAE’s, five bounced back e-mails, four nice rejections, three sticky notepads, two lindt chocolates and a pen with my name engraved on it.

On the 8th day of writers Christmas my non-agent gave to me – eight words of wisdom (don’t panic, breathe, relax, eat chocolate and sleep),  a ‘Seven’ score from Strictly, Six SAE’s, five bounced back e-mails, four nice rejections, three sticky notepads, two lindt chocolates and a pen with my name engraved on it.

On the 9th day of writers Christmas my non-agent gave to me – nine editorial changes, eight words of wisdom (don’t panic, breathe, relax, eat chocolate and sleep),  a ‘Seven’ score from Strictly, Six SAE’s, five bounced back e-mails, four nice rejections, three sticky notepads, two lindt chocolates and a pen with my name engraved on it.

On the 10th day of writers Christmas my non-agent gave to me – ten quiet minutes, nine editorial changes, eight words of wisdom (don’t panic, breathe, relax, eat chocolate and sleep),  a ‘Seven’ score from Strictly, Six SAE’s, five bounced back e-mails, four nice rejections, three sticky notepads, two lindt chocolates and a pen with my name engraved on it.

On the 11th day of writers Christmas my non-agent gave to me – eleven missed calls, ten quiet minutes, nine editorial changes, eight words of wisdom (don’t panic, breathe, relax, eat chocolate and sleep),  a ‘Seven’ score from Strictly, Six SAE’s, five bounced back e-mails, four nice rejections, three sticky notepads, two lindt chocolates and a pen with my name engraved on it.

On the 12th day of writers Christmas my non-agent gave to me – twelve good luck charms, eleven missed calls, ten quiet minutes, nine editorial changes, eight words of wisdom (don’t panic, breathe, relax, eat chocolate and sleep),  a ‘Seven’ score from Strictly, Six SAE’s, five bounced back e-mails, four nice rejections, three sticky notepads, two lindt chocolates and a pen with my name engraved on it (cue trumpets, standing ovations and other festive treats that come with this song).
